🔒 100% Local Processing: To ensure maximum trust, privacy, and speed, all data processing occurs 100% locally within your browser. No names, credit card formats, or training logs are ever uploaded to any external servers. You can export/import your work locally using the buttons below.
Welcome to the ultimate free GDS terminal simulator. Whether you are a travel industry student, a ticketing agent, or an aviation enthusiast, mastering commands is crucial. This simulator provides a secure, lightning-fast, and realistic environment to practice generating fully numbered PNRs, handling FA PAX elements, dynamic pricing (FXP/FXB/FQN), Round Trips (AC), issuing e-tickets (TTP/TWD/TTE/ALL), agency commissions (FM), splitting PNRs (SP), and simulating refunds (TRF/TRFP/TRFIG) directly from your device.
What is a Global Distribution System (GDS)?
A Global Distribution System (GDS) is a massive computerized network that facilitates transactions between travel service providers—such as airlines, hotels, and car rental companies—and travel agencies. The most prominent GDS platforms globally include Amadeus, Sabre, and Galileo (Travelport). These systems act as the backbone of the travel industry, processing millions of bookings daily. Mastering a GDS terminal is a mandatory skill for anyone looking to build a career as a travel agent, ticketing consultant, or airline representative.
Traditionally, GDS systems operate through a command-line interface (CLI) known as a "cryptic terminal." Unlike modern graphical user interfaces (GUIs), cryptic terminals require agents to memorize specific codes and formats to interact with the system. While this may seem archaic, it is preferred by professionals because it allows for incredibly fast and precise workflow once mastered.
Why Use a Free GDS Training Simulator?
Learning GDS commands directly on a live, production terminal can be highly intimidating and risky. A single mistyped command on a real system can lead to actual seat deductions from airline inventory, invalid ticketing formats, or costly Agency Debit Memos (ADMs) issued by airlines to penalize mistakes. For beginners, the pressure of making an error can severely hinder the learning process.
This is where our GDS Simulator comes into play. It provides a risk-free, sandbox environment that precisely mimics the behavior, numbering conventions, and command logic of real-world systems. You can practice complex scenarios such as booking round trips (AC), splitting a group PNR (SP), modifying passenger names, calculating dynamic fares based on cabin classes, rebooking segments (SB), and refunding virtual tickets without any financial consequences. It bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Uncompromised Privacy and Lightning Speed
Unlike other online simulators that require account registrations and store your training logs on remote databases, we prioritize your data security. Our tools run 100% locally in your browser. Your private files are never uploaded to our servers. This client-side processing not only ensures absolute privacy but also guarantees lightning-fast terminal response times, mirroring the real-time speed of professional aviation software. Furthermore, we implemented a "Command History" feature—just use your Up and Down arrow keys to recall previous commands, just like a real terminal.
How to Use the GDS Simulator: A Step-by-Step Guide
Creating a Passenger Name Record (PNR) is the most fundamental task in any GDS. A complete PNR requires five mandatory elements, often remembered by the acronym PRINT (Phone, Received from, Itinerary, Name, Ticketing). Follow this standard workflow to practice your first booking on our simulator:
-
Step 1: Check Flight Availability
Start by searching for flights. TypeAN15AUGJFKDXBto search for flights from New York (JFK) to Dubai (DXB) on August 15th. The system will display realistic flights complete with terminal numbers (e.g., T1, T2) and accurate departure/arrival times. To check for a return flight, simply typeAC25AUG. -
Step 2: Sell a Seat (Itinerary)
Once the availability is displayed, book a seat. TypeSS1Y1to book one seat in Economy class (Y) from line 1 of the availability display. The system will create an HN (Holding Need) segment. -
Step 3: Add Passenger Name
Use the command1/SMITH/JOHN MRorNM1SMITH/JOHN MRto register the traveler's name. If you make a mistake, you can modify it using the Name Update command, e.g.,NU1/DOE/JOHN MR. -
Step 4: Insert Contact Information
Add a mobile phone number usingAPM 0100000000. You can also add an email address usingAPE JOHN@EXAMPLE.COM. -
Step 5: Add Ticketing Element & Payment
Confirm the ticketing arrangement by typingTKOK. This will automatically change your segment status from HN to HK (Holding Confirmed). Then, add a payment method usingFP CASHor a virtual credit card. -
Step 6: Price the Itinerary
Before issuing the ticket, you must calculate the fare. UseFXPto calculate the taxes and total base fare based on your selected cabin class. If you want the system to find a cheaper class, useFXB(Best Buy). -
Step 7: Save the Booking
Finally, sign the PNR usingRF YOURNAME(Received From) and typeER(End and Retrieve) to save it. The system will auto-sort your elements and generate a unique 6-character PNR code! -
Step 8: Issue the E-Ticket
With your PNR saved, typeTTPorTTE/ALL. The system will issue a virtual E-Ticket and generate the highly authenticFA PAXelement at the bottom of your PNR.
Advanced Ticketing, Commissions & Refunds
In addition to the basics, travel agents must handle commissions and specific payment overrides. Our simulator allows you to practice these advanced operations:
- Split PNR (SP): If two passengers are booked under the same PNR and one decides to change their flight or cancel, you must split them. Use the
SPcommand followed by the passenger number (e.g.,SP2to separate the second passenger into a new PNR). - Agency Commissions (FM): Travel agents earn revenue through commissions. You can add a commission to the ticketing mask using the
FMcommand (e.g.,FM5for a 5% commission, orFM50Afor a flat amount). - Manual Ticketing Mask (TMI/FP): For specific payment overrides during ticket issuance, professionals use
TMI/FPto append the form of payment directly into the Ticketing Manual Initialization mask. - The Refund Lifecycle (TRF/TRFP/TRFIG): Refunding a ticket in a real GDS is a multi-step process to prevent accidental cancellations. First, you initialize the refund mask with
TRF. Then, you confirm and process it usingTRFP, or you can cancel the operation usingTRFIG(Refund Ignore). Afterwards, you can view the refund document usingTRDC/L.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Are the terminals and flight times accurate?
Yes, to provide a highly immersive experience, the simulator dynamically generates realistic departure and arrival times, calculates flight durations, and assigns Terminal numbers (e.g., T1, T2, T3) when you check flight availability using the AN or AC commands.
How do I use the SP (Split) command?
The SP command is used to separate a passenger from a multi-passenger PNR. If you have 3 passengers and want to split the second one, you type SP2. This will remove passenger 2 from the current workspace, reduce the segment counts, and reset pricing. You must re-price the current itinerary (FXP) and save it. In a real system, the split passenger gets a new PNR code.
What is the difference between TTP, TTE, and TTE/ALL?
All these commands are used to issue tickets. TTP is the standard command to print/issue tickets from a priced PNR. TTE is used to issue from a specific Transitional Stored Ticket (TST), and TTE/ALL explicitly commands the system to issue electronic tickets for ALL passengers in the PNR simultaneously from the stored TST.
What is the "FA PAX" line?
In standard GDS systems, once a ticket is issued using TTP or TTE/ALL, the system automatically generates a ticketing element attached to the PNR. This appears as FA PAX followed by the 13-digit E-Ticket number. Our simulator replicates this behavior, providing a crucial visual cue that your virtual ticketing was successful.
Does the PNR Auto-Sort?
Absolutely. When you End & Retrieve (ER), the system will automatically sequence and number your PNR based on standard airline hierarchy. Names receive a decimal format like 1.1, while Segments, Contacts, and other elements take standard integers. You must use the XE command followed by the exact line number to cancel an element (e.g., XE3).
How do the Export and Import features work?
Since this simulator is completely private and uses no cloud databases, your saved PNRs live inside your browser's local storage. The Export Data button downloads a secure .txt file containing your training records. You can use the Import Data button later to upload that file and restore your PNRs, allowing you to pause and resume your training anytime.
What is the difference between TRF and TRFP?
In standard GDS software, refunding a ticket is critical and requires confirmation. The TRF command simply initializes and opens the refund mask, calculating the refund amount and showing it on the screen. The ticket is NOT refunded yet. To actually process the refund and change the ticket status, you must type the TRFP (Refund Process) command.
How do I use the FM command for commissions?
The FM command is used to record the travel agency's commission. You can type FM7 to indicate a 7% commission, or FM100A to indicate a flat amount of 100 in the local currency. This must be done before issuing the ticket with TTP.
